This post shows you Christmas mantle decor ideas you will absolutely love!

Christmas is one of those holidays where the decor can basically be used in every space of the home. From living rooms to kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms, all of them are spaces that are commonly decorated for Christmas.
However one space that I find is not talked about often, but is always a centerpiece in anyone’s home who has one, is the mantle of a fireplace.
Apart from your Christmas tree, Christmas mantle decor is singlehandedly one of the best ways to bring the festive vibes to your home, since it’s always the part of your living room that stands out the most.
From winter wonderland mantle decor ideas to simple and traditional looks, there will definitely be an idea you will need to try from this list. Let’s dive in!
Christmas Mantle Decor Ideas
1. Winter Wonderland

If you like that calm, snowy vibe, this one’s for you! Going for white and silver looks with frosted garlands and lights and some little houses a top of the mantle is a super simple and cozy look.
It feels like you’re living inside of a Christmas movie! I love the little homes and the ambiance with the lit trees near the back.
2. Little Decorations

I feel like sometimes the tiniest thing makes the biggest impact. Lining up a few mini Christmas trees, candles and little lights gives a sweet, simple look.
This type of look is perfect if you love a clean, uncluttered vibe but you still want that holiday charm.
I also like the way they decorated the inside of the fireplace with pinecones and that custom painting design. It’s so cool and is such a unique way to fill up the space.
3. Santa’s Town

I absolutely love this little town idea. Bringing a little North Pole magic to your living room is a great way to add some festivities to your home.
An even better idea is adding some soft lights behind the homes so they glow like a snowy Christmas village at night!
It’s really charming and I think, quite magical.
4. Pinecone Centerpiece

So if you like a more natural, woodsy look, this one’s going to be your vibe. Placing some pinecones right in the center of your mantle and surrounding it with candles and mini spruce trees gives such a warm and rustic feeling!
Personally the mix of greenery, texture and the candles makes it feel super cozy and inviting without making it feel over the top.
5. Rustic Lanterns

Those twinkling lights draped over the mantle with the garland and pinecones gives off the holiday vibes so well. I love the nativity scene too, it gives such a sweet heartfelt vibe.
The red toy truck with the lit tree is also really cool. I like the lantern look a lot, and it would look great in the evening with lit candles.
6. Stockings and Plants

I really really like stockings for Christmas mantle decor. It’s so traditional and always reminds me of the ‘Home Alone’ movies with the festive look.
Additionally the centerpiece of the mantle being the gorgeous red flower is just so nice, and paired with the tall candles either side amplifies the flower so much more.
I would go a step further and even add string lights in the flower to make it glow in the dark, so that’s a recommendation to try!
7. Hanging Leaves with Candles

The candles surrounded in those glasses adds such a nice ambience to the mantle. Paired with those hanging leaves and vines off the corner makes the whole look really classy.
I love how realistic the leaves look and the thin lights all around, mixed with the pinecones.
It goes really well with the white matted fireplace, so the look would be amazing for anyone trying to recreate some Christmas mantle decor with a modern feel.
8. Rustic and Traditional

This picture gives me such a rustic farmhouse Christmas vibe. The barn on top of the mantle is so unique and the garland with the small wreath in the center is so creative.
Adding some greenery, red berries around, wood accents and plaid details like the chair and sign near the bottom really ties the look all together.
It’s a timeless heartwarming look that will (hopefully) never go out of style!
9. Reindeer Statues

Another really fun and festive idea is getting some statues on top of your mantle! It’s the perfect place to put them for the holidays so they can shine in the spot light.
I really like the reindeer statues but you could also opt for Santa Claus statues, or even little worker elves.
10. Santa Portrait

You can’t convince me that this isn’t a fun idea. Especially if you have kids, leaning a portrait on your mantle for Christmas decor will totally make them feel like Santa is always watching them, (which hopefully means they’ll behave better too.
Consider the type of Santa portrait you want, since some portray Santa differently. Some different ideas include a more cartoonish look, a realistic look, an older Santa, or a younger one!
11. Red Stockings

Nothing like a classic Christmas look for your mantle decor. The mantle is the perfect spot to place any stockings you have, and the red, white and green color combination here is just the right fit.
It’s really cohesive and the addition of those gift baskets at the bottom fills the space even more.
If you want to go for those big garlands, make sure that your fireplace mantle matches in proportion, otherwise it may look too bulky.
12. Little Red Truck

If you aren’t into candles or any of the fancy Christmas decorations, consider decorating your mantle decor with some rustic elements like a truck!
It seems vintage and it’s snow covered, which I think makes it seem so much more realistic.
Paired with the potted mini fern tree and the spruce leaved garland, it looks really rustic along with the bricked fireplace mantle!
A good idea to recreate if you like more rustic elements in your home decor!
13. Woodland Glow Mantle

I love how warm this one feels, like bringing a little forest indoors. The soft lights throughout the garland make everything glow and the white trees give it that snowy, winter wonderland vibe without being too much.
The stone backdrop adds such a cozy, rustic feel and I’d totally add a few pinecones or wood ornaments to tie it all together!
But my favorite part has to be the little tree on the side, it makes the whole setup feel homey and magical, like Christmas Eve in a cabin!
14. Leaning Christmas Sign

What better way to spread the Christmas spirit then using your mantle to hang a festive sign? If you don’t use the space for a TV or anything else, leaning a sign on your mantle is a fun and pretty way to celebrate and decorate your mantle for Christmas
For this idea, measure the size of your mantle and the amount of available space you have above, and figure out what kind of message you’d like to put as the centerpiece of your fireplace mantle.
15. Mini Christmas Trees

Okay this Christmas mantle decor is really hard to replicate but I still wanted to include it because some of y’all may have a corner fireplace like the picture above.
This look is really good for bigger decorations since a corner fireplace gives you more surface area for above and the mantle. Consider adding medium sized fern trees and decorate them with lights and ornaments!
I also love the stockings on the side and the addition of those reindeer statues.
16. Snow Piles

Snow piles around the fireplace and on top of the mantle is probably the most unique idea on this list. If you live somewhere warmer, bringing the cold snow vibe into your living room is a great way to try and feel that typical Christmas feeling.
For the fake snow you can use cotton, and you can layer it with beautiful decorations planted within the snow for more decor and design for your Christmas mantle decor.

Finally, when considering what type of Christmas mantle decor you want to try in your own space, there are some important things to keep in mind to ensure the best look that matches your taste.
Keep the size of your mantle in consideration when decorating your mantle, as a smaller space should be kept less cluttered and similarly, should use smaller decorations.
Also think of the color scheme and type of Christmas decor you like. Some ideas are: white Christmas decor, and traditional Christmas decor. When you have a good idea on these, you’ll be more informed and make better decisions on your space.
