This post shows you the most festive Christmas decor above kitchen cabinet ideas.

I would say that Christmas is my favorite holiday. It’s so fun to decorate the house with a bunch of different Christmas related items such as wreaths, gifts, bows, and the Christmas tree of course.
However one part of the home that I think most people tend to leave out of the festivities is the kitchen. It can be really hard to decorate this area, since it’s used so heavily everyday and most people would rather keep the counters clear of any decorations.
Also, if you have a gap between the ceiling and your kitchen cabinets, and some space, you could certainly fill up that space with all sorts of Christmas decorations.
So with that, I figured that it would be fun to share some Christmas decor above kitchen cabinet ideas that you could incorporate within your own kitchen.

recreate the look
This look is really simple but is a really fun and easy way to spice up your kitchen for the holiday season.
Using a fake snow covered spruce tree and setting it above your fridge or your kitchen cabinets is a really quick way to get some of that holiday decor within your kitchen with not a lot of maintenance throughout the season!
I really like this look considering it doesn’t require a lot of work or upkeep. You can use some simple items such as a Christmas garland or a mini Christmas tree for this type of look.
2. Festive Garland above Kitchen Cabinets

Okay, now this one really amplifies the kitchen so much. Just looking at this picture makes me excited for the holiday season.
Hanging festive snow covered garlands throughout your cabinets like the image is such a fun way to feel the Christmas vibe all over your home.
Putting the garlands right above the cabinets also ensures that you don’t block any of the cabinet doors, so you can still use them as normal. You can also add some red bows that you can attach to the garland to add some more color and decoration to your Christmas garland.
3. Christmas Decorations above Cabinet

This is a really creative way to fill up any empty space you may have if you have a gap between the top of your kitchen cabinets and the ceiling.
Adding a bunch of different types of Christmas and holiday decorations throughout the top of your kitchen cabinets makes it look unique and if done right, still cohesive of a mixture of different objects.
I like the small wreaths in front of some of the cabinet doors as well, it adds more depth for the kitchen!
4. Spelling words on kitchen cabinets

If you want to go even further, you can even spell out some holiday related words on your kitchen cabinets! You can do this by buying some stick and peel letters from Amazon and spell out any word you want!
It really does pop and makes the kitchen cabinets look less bland.
I also like the lit up garland running across the top of the cabinets as well.
5. Leaf bows on kitchen cabinet corner

Shop The Look
Apart from the huge ‘JOY’ spelling in the corner (which is amazing,) I wanted to point out the corners of each of the kitchen cabinets in this picture.
The leaf bows on the corners looks so pretty and honestly doesn’t make the kitchen look cluttered at all.
I would recommend this look if you want to put more effort into your kitchen cabinet Christmas decor. It would totally pay off.
You can recreate this look with some simple bows as well which adds the same festivity vibes as the mini garlands on the cabinet corners.
6. Gift baskets above kitchen cabinets

Recreate the look
Another really creative idea! Using gift boxes above your kitchen cabinets and incorporating a color palette, maybe a white Christmas look as the image is another really good way to fill up the space above your kitchen cabinets and decorate for Christmas.
7. Christmas Tree Farm above Cabinets

Obviously it’s not an actual Christmas tree farm, but all of those tiny spruce trees above the fridge and the reindeer statue totally gives me cozy Christmas tree farm vibes.
Even though these are above the fridge, you can totally also put the trees above your kitchen cabinets too.
You can go even further by adding some mini lights across some of the trees, and in the evening your Christmas tree farm can glow in your kitchen when it gets dark outside!

Recreate the look
This is another simple and cute look for your kitchen cabinets. I’d even say it’s quite traditional with the bells. If you buy the right kind, they can make a small noise every time you open your cabinets, which can be good.. or bad, depending on how you see it.
Additionally, I love the festive garland going over the hood of the stove, and the small Christmas trees throughout the countertops.
This is another look that can be easily recreated in your own kitchen with buying some spruce garlands and attaching bells to the end of them.
9. Kitchen Cabinet Small Wreath

recreate the look
Okay this look is really cute. It’s so simple and compact which makes it look really aesthetic.
If you are more minimalist and simplest, but you still want to decorate your kitchen cabinets, this look is definitely for your kitchen.
You can easily do the look with buying some garlands and attaching some bows to them, or buying custom garlands with bows.
Overall a really simple and cute minimalistic look!
10. Christmas Sign above Cabinet

I love small, sweet messages, so I especially like this Christmas sign above these kitchen cabinets. The candles scattered around the top are also very cool, especially in the evening, just be sure that they don’t cause any safety hazards if the gap between the ceiling and cabinet is too little.
And the good thing is that there are so many different signs that you can choose from, with a bunch of different messages.
If you want to make the message very noticeable and seen in your kitchen, I’d suggest making it the centerpiece when placing it above your kitchen cabinets.
11. Cute Gingerbread Stand

This gingerbread stand above these kitchen cabinets adds so much to the Christmas decor. You could even add a family of them to have a bunch of little gingerbread people above your kitchen cabinets!
I also like the look of combining the gingerbread stand with some Christmas garlands. If you don’t want to use gingerbread, you can also use stands of reindeer or a Santa Claus stand!
12. Christmas Cabinets with Fake Snow

The fake snow idea is genuinely so unique, and really easy to recreate. Sprawling those mini fake spruce trees around the top of the cabinet makes it look like the concept of a spruce forest during a snowy night.
The fake snow in the picture looks so real too, my eyes immediately went up to that space. If you have any guests that you want to impress, definitely consider recreating this look inside of your own kitchen!
The fake snow can be made from cotton balls and you can buy mini spruce trees on Amazon!
13. North Pole Lights for Christmas Kitchen Cabinets

There is literally nothing more festive and Christmas vibey than a North Pole Town inspired look sitting on top of your kitchen cabinets.
Especially since the inside of the little homes light up, it adds so much coziness to the whole space, and can make the kitchen feel like a moody, festive place.
I love this look so much! You could also incorporate some reindeer figures and fake snow using cotton balls around the homes as well.
14. White Christmas Kitchen Cabinet Decor

In terms of color palettes, there are a lot to choose from.
A white Christmas look goes really well with most kitchens, especially one with white cabinets too. I also like the white Christmas spruce tree that’s on that stand!
You can easily incorporate this look inside of your own kitchen by getting snow covered spruce trees and garlands and sprawling them throughout your kitchen!
Closing
When decorating above your kitchen cabinets, figure out how much space you can use, how much you want to use, and measure the gap between the ceiling and the top of the cabinets.
Using these measurements, shop accordingly to your taste in Christmas decorations and most importantly, enjoy the process when preparing for the holiday season!
